Alumni-Seminar: Establishment of innovative, multi-state and multi-national networks

The Georg-August University Göttingen hereby announces the International DAAD Alumni-Seminar “Establishment of innovative, multi-state and multi-national networks”, which will take place 12 – 15 September 2014 in Göttingen. The seminar is scheduled in the run-up to the international BION conference “Biodiversity Today for Tomorrow” (17 – 19 September 2014).

12 – 15 September 2014, Göttingen

Due to the complexity of ecological, social and economic interactions in our world, biodiversity research and teaching relies on integrated approaches. This seminar will joint 25 alumni from 24 developing countries with a professional background in agriculture, forestry, biology or social studies connected to biodiversity issues. The seminar aims to foster interdisciplinary knowledge transfer by presenting state-of-the-art biodiversity research activities of the University of Göttingen and their network partners. Göttingen researchers will report on monitoring and assessment tools, nature conservation, multi-ecosystem approaches and political implications. Due to oral presentations of all participants and manifold discussions we will exchange work experiences and may initiate new research activities. The excursion to the National Park Hainich will present modern biodiversity research sites and offer a walk on the tree top trail. The program is organized and hosted by the Section of Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry of the Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use.
